On November 2nd, the Indianapolis Bar Association held its monthly Breakfast with the Bar event with an emphasis on Tax Law. Participating attorneys shared their experiences and insight in both the public and private sectors.

The Law Student Division hosted seven practicing attorneys with experience representing defendants, the state, and the judiciary in criminal disputes at the October Breakfast with the Bar.

We are excited to formally introduce the 2023 - 2024 Law Student Division Executive Committee. With December Commencement on the horizon, the exec. committee has two at-large seats opening up in December. Apply by November 1st to be eligible for the election on November 9th. IndyBar has a volunteer opportunity just for you to benefit the entire Indianapolis community through our partnership with CHIP (Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention). CHIP publishes a Handbook of Help once a year to distribute resources to individuals in Marion County and surrounding areas experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. This will be IndyBar's third year assisting CHIP to ensure that information contained in the Handbook of Help is up-to-date, inclusive of all services in the Indianapolis area, and the distribution has surpassed 12,000 hard copies in addition to the electronic version.

ChatGPT is all anyone can seem to talk about these days, from grandmas to grade schoolers.  That is how you know when a technology has captured the popular zeitgeist. Now, if you haven’t used it yet, or are unfamiliar with it, ChatGPT is what is called a ‘generative AI’ tool, that is rendered in the form of a chatbot.

By order of the Marion Circuit Court Judge, the Marion Circuit Court, Marion Superior Courts, Marion County Small Claims Courts, and the Marion County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, June 19, 2023, in observance of Juneteenth.

A reminder, when the Court is closed, the Juvenile Detention Center, Initial Hearing Court and Juvenile Probation Intake at 25th & Keystone are still open and operational.

The Indianapolis Bar Association centered its February Breakfast with the Bar event on Intellectual Property (IP). A diverse contingent of attorneys attended this event and shared valuable practical wisdom with roughly 30 IU McKinney Students.
