Legal Services Agencies
The Indianapolis Bar Association supports the work of area agencies to provide free or reduced-fee legal services. The following is a list of those resources, a short description of the services they offer, and links to their websites.
Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic
Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic (NCLC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation offering pro bono legal representation and preventive law education to low-income families, including immigrant families. NCLC accepts clients in the greater Indianapolis metro area and assists with many civil matters, but not original dissolutions or criminal matters.
Indiana Legal Services Organization, Inc.
Indiana Legal Services, Inc. is dedicated to providing legal services, advice, and education to low-income families on civil matters throughout the state of Indiana. Walk-in and phone-in intake hours vary based on the legal issue. Cases are subsequently reviewed by staff attorneys; letters are sent out accepting or denying the case. Indiana Legal Services DOES NOT provide assistance on criminal matters.
Indianapolis Legal Aid Society
The Indianapolis Legal Aid Society, Inc. (ILAS) represents low-income residents of Marion County on any non-criminal, non-fee-generating legal matter. ILAS also sponsors a special project that assists seniors with housing problems. Staff attorneys may provide advice or legal representation on civil matters such as marital dissolution, custody dispute, child support problems, adoption, guardianship, public benefits, debtor-creditor disputes, landlord-tenant disputes, or other non-criminal matters.
