Masters Division Mission & Purpose
The Indianapolis Bar Association Masters Division serves the unique abilities and needs of practitioners with 25 years or more tenure in the practice of law. The division and its leadership work to uphold the honor and dignity of the legal profession, serve the advanced educational needs of its members, cultivate social interaction among its members, assist the Indianapolis Bar Association Board of Directors and to apply the knowledge and experience of its members to promote the public good.
Educational Programs with a Competitive Edge
By staying in touch with cutting-edge technology and practice tools while learning to deftly navigate changes within the legal profession, the Masters Division educates its members and provides advanced-level continuing education opportunities.
Modern Mentoring
Through one-on-one mentoring as well as the Law Student Division’s Breakfast with the Bar program and the Professionalism Committee’s Mentor Connect program, the Masters Division strives to aid in the development of young attorneys in our community.
Leadership & Vision
Led by an impressive and accomplished group of jurists and attorneys from central Indiana who serve on its executive committee, the Masters Division proactively addresses the issues facing the IndyBar’s most experienced members.
Honoring the Community
The Masters Division’s annual Celebration of Law and Career event recognizes those achieving their 50th and 25th years in the practice of law. The Division also serves as the annual convener of Indianapolis Bar Association and Foundation leaders for consideration of a worthy recipient of The Luminary Award. This award, formerly the Paul H. Buchanan, Jr. Award of Excellence, recognizes an exemplary individual who has made significant contributions to the legal profession, distinguished themselves by maintaining the highest levels of ethics and professionalism, and achieved a level of excellence that has advanced the profession as a whole and the Indianapolis legal community. The award is given from time to time, no more often than annually, when a worthy recipient is chosen by a majority vote of the award committee.
Enhanced Quality of Life & Continued Careers
The Masters Division hosts programs and activities to provide guidance and assistance to experienced attorneys in preparing for and adjusting to changes in their professional and financial activities.
