Volunteers Sought for Pro Bono Service
The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana seeks attorneys admitted to practice in the District to serve on its Chapter 7 Pro Bono and Chapter 13 Pro Se Volunteer Attorney panels.  As the number of cases filed last year in the Southern District approached 10,000 for the first time since 2020, the Court received a corresponding increase in the number of requests for assistance from individuals proceeding without an attorney. Panelists serve as resources to assist parties involved in bankruptcy matters when: (1) a pro se party is involved in a bankruptcy matter; (2) the party cannot afford legal representation; and/or (3) a judge determines that it is in the best interest of the bankruptcy system to involve a volunteer attorney to assist the party.  Help is needed to meet the growing demand for legal services.

Those interested in volunteering are invited to submit an application or request additional information.
