The IndyBar Law Student Division is seeking applicants to serve on the Law Student Division Executive Board.

On Friday, law students in the IndyBar Law Student Division met with attorneys with several years of experience in criminal law. Students in attendance had many questions, but I will highlight three “takeaways."

Newly-minted associates may see employers extend more job offers, research indicates. Nearly one-quarter (22 percent) of lawyers recently interviewed by Robert Half Legal said their law firm plans to increase its hiring of first-year associates in the next 12 months, while 67 percent indicated no change in hiring activity and 7 percent plan a decrease.

In conjunction with McKinney 1L orientation, the IndyBar re-launched its popular #WhyIndyBar campaign. The campaign focuses on personal testimonials from IndyBar law student members explaining why being a part of the IndyBar is so important and meaningful to them.

The Indianapolis Bar Association, partnered with the Starfish Initiative, hosted the second annual Suited Up "Senior Send-Off" event in May. Students not only received college and career development tips, but also newly tailored suits, thanks to generous donations from IndyBar members.

Harvard Law School, expanding a pilot program for Harvard undergraduates, said recently that it would allow juniors accepted from any college to defer admission as long as they finish college and spend at least two years working, studying or pursuing research or fellowships.
