While many employers allowed their employees to work from home or to have modified work schedules for most of 2020, these same employers are now requiring or expecting their employees to be physically present in the workplace for their normal work schedules. This change is likely to cause employers to deal with an uptick of workplace safety concerns, worker’s compensation claims and reasonable accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The EEOC’s COVID-19 VacAs we get further into 2021 and the vaccine becomes more readily available, employers and employees are likely to have questions about whether employees can be required to get vaccinated as a term or condition of their employment.

Indiana's Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is seeking licensed attorneys for full time and part time contractor employment to conduct unemployment insurance appeal hearings. 

With some exceptions, Indiana employers can legally require workers to be vaccinated for COVID-19. But, that probably won’t happen anytime soon due to several factors including a limited supply.

In a non-COVID year, we would typically recognize our IndyBar award winners at our annual Recognition Breakfast — typically a packed event with comradery and good cheer. Like many things this year, we will recognize our award winners in different (but no less important) ways.

Over the last few years, ride sharing apps have dominated the public transportation world. Even in a world dominated by COVID-19, in which most people aren’t socializing or traveling as they did previously, ridesharing companies have found ways to stay relevant, partnering with restaurants and delivery services to join the ever-increasing world of meal delivery.

For employees and employers alike, COVID-19 has certainly made 2020 interesting; the changing laws, the lack of guidance on many of the regulations passed, and the everchanging employment landscape has left many companies and individuals struggling to balance compliance with the best interests of their employees and their businesses.
