February is Black History Month. Area students may be learning about the successes of Madam C.J. Walker and Marshall “Major” Taylor. Perhaps you’ve read about the importance of Indiana Avenue to our City’s past. The EEOC and the ICRC both recognize Black History Month as a reminder of the importance of the civil rights movement. 

The practice-area specific Bill Watch reports for Feb. 14 are now available. The reports highlight the pending bills of particular concern to different sections within the bar.

A variety of scholarships are available to attend the 2020 IndyBar Bench Bar Conference June 18-20, 2020 at the French Lick Springs Hotel in French Lick, Indiana. IndyBar's Bench Bar Conference is Indiana's premier event to bring lawyers, judges and paralegals together for a great time and top-notch CLE programming. Scholarships funded by the Indianapolis Bar Foundation will be awarded in addition to those awarded through IndyBar sections and divisions.

Are you ready for a one-of-a-kind Bench Bar experience? Registration is now open for this year's event to be held at the French Lick Springs Resort from June 18-20! Attracting hundreds of attorneys, judicial officers and guests, attendees of the conference can receive a maximum of six hours of CLE credit (ethics included) and will be provided the absolute best access of judges to lawyers. Registration is now open at special early bird pricing!

As we prepare to enter the final month of 2020's shorter (but nonetheless exciting) legislative session, the IndyBar is excited to host again one of our most engaging and important networking events of the year: the Lawyer-Legislator Luncheon on Feb. 25!

I am so excited about the new exhibit at the Indiana State Museum called “FIX: Heartbreak and Hope Inside Our Opioid Crisis.” This exhibit provides our community with an opportunity to dive into the science behind the opioid epidemic as well as viewing personal stories of Hoosiers who have been affected by this.
