Special Awareness Months Highlight Labor and Employment Law Topics

February is Black History Month. Area students may be learning about the successes of Madam C.J. Walker and Marshall “Major” Taylor. Perhaps you’ve read about the importance of Indiana Avenue to our City’s past. The EEOC and the ICRC both recognize Black History Month as a reminder of the importance of the civil rights movement. 

January marks National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Labor trafficking has not been ended, even in Indiana. The EEOC recently made a recommitment to its work abolishing modern slavery. It is not alone: here at home, IPATH—Indiana Protection for Abused and Trafficked Humans—allows organizations to partner to eliminate trafficking. Look for CLE programming this year on trafficking in Indiana.
