The 2021 legislative session is approaching Sine Die on April 21.

Last year, the IndyBar established a standing committee on Racial Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. The committee recognizes the IndyBar’s responsibility to bring about change to achieve equality, diversity and inclusion in the Indianapolis legal community and beyond. As members of the IndyBar, we have that same responsibility. I am calling on the members of the IndyBar to take the initiative with respect to our diverse colleagues who are not members of the IndyBar.

The Indianapolis Bar Association Intellectual Property Section is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships to encourage all eligible law students to complete the Patent Bar Exam. Achieving this goal will enable you as a student to concentrate on the critical summer clerkship and help make you more attractive to prospective employers after graduation.

The Domestic Relations Committee is seeking comments on proposed changes to Indiana’s Parenting Time Guidelines. The guidelines are used by courts, parents, and mediators as a model to aid in scheduling frequent, meaningful, and continuing contact with each parent.

The Indianapolis Bar Association recognizes that equality, diversity and inclusion impact all aspects of work among members of the IndyBar, within the practice of law and within the communities where we live and work. The association, through its actions and those of its members, seeks to be instrumental in creating a more equitable, diverse and inclusive society.

Thanks to the help of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, the IndyBar Legislative Committee is currently monitoring various legislation that could impact areas of practice or the practice of law.

This year, with the road before us full of promise, the Indianapolis Bar Foundation is working hard to provide safe, exciting opportunities to come back together, to come back downtown and to grab hold of some of that hope that has escaped us for the past year.

After a year apart from our friends, colleagues and mentors, the IndyBar is, as always, on the forefront of creating dynamic new content while adapting to new trends in technology and the law.
