NLRB Rules Employees Have Freedom to "Like" Facebook Statuses - Labor and Employment Law News

Facebook newsfeeds are usually littered with complaints, but when a disgruntled employee "liked" the status of a former coworker complaining about his company, he found himself being fired after the employer heard about it.

In this case, the NLRB ruled that "liking" a Facebook comment is protected, concerted activity under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), so the employer's decision is unlawful. This decision applies to both union and non-union shops.
