The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) made the first update to its policies since 1983 today. They expanded the employment protection to expectant mothers. Under this new policy, employers must accommodate pregnant women and failure to do so is a violation of federal law. The policy also clarifies other guidelines on issues related to pregnancy leave, accommodations for lactation and discrimination based on previous pregnancies. Read the full policy here.
