On Wednesday, March 25th, the IndyBar Law Student Division hosted Breakfast with the Bar: Health Law Edition at IU McKinney’s Law Library. The event gave students the opportunity to connect with attorneys practicing across the health law landscape and to learn how health law issues arise in everyday practice. Attorneys provided insights on health law isues in transactional settings, litigation, and regulatory work.

Attendees heard practical perspectives on topics like compliance, risk management, privacy rights, navigating healthcare regulations, provider and payer relationships, and how patient care realities intersect with legal strategy. Panelists also shared candid advice on building experience in the field, including ways to develop strong writing and issue-spotting skills, how to get exposure to healthcare-focused work as a student, and what early-career roles in health law can look like. The conversation included time for informal questions, giving students a chance to ask about career paths, day-to-day workflow, and the skills that translate best in this space.

Thank you to all of our participating panelists and to the IndyBar Law Student Division for organizing another valuable program for the Indianapolis legal community.
