There is a new binge-worthy show on Netflix called “The Confession Tapes.” Each episode of this show highlights a different murder investigation that involved a confession of sorts.

A fellow attorney related a recent incident where he/she became aware of a client with no criminal history who was charged with a low-level crime who fell victim to a bond scam in Hancock County.

According to the Chicago Tribune, State Senator Mike Bohacek has promised to introduced a bill that would include a sentencing aggravator if “a crime was committed with intent to harm or intimidate an individual based on certain factors including race, religion, sex, gender identity, disability, political ideology, sexual orientation and status as a public safety official.”

The Indiana Drug Prevention, Treatment and Enforcement Task Force has released a plan for dealing with the State’s opiate epidemic. Laudably, the plan proposes increased prevention and treatment efforts. However, the plan lacks meaningful enforcement proposals, without which the prospects of controlling the epidemic through prevention and treatment are impossible.

The IndyBar is saddened to note the passing of United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana Magistrate Judge Denise K. LaRue on August 2, 2017. Judge LaRue was appointed to the court on May 11, 2017 and filled a new magistrate judgeship that had been created for the Southern District of Indiana by the Judicial Conference of the United States.

Judge LaRue was appointed to the court on May 11, 2011, and filled a new magistrate judgeship that had been created for the Southern District of Indiana by the Judicial Conference of the United States.
