It’s been a busy, productive quarter for the Criminal Justice Section! We are proud to announce that we have helped to create a comprehensive Courts Guide that will help attorneys get to know the specific protocols and rules that are present in each court. Several of our criminal law judges were gracious enough to share any important, relevant information that lawyers need to know when practicing in their courtrooms. We anticipate that this will be a highly useful tool for lawyers practicing criminal law! Take a look at the renovated guide here.
We’ve also been busy providing and planning several exciting CLEs for our section. Check out the IndyBar Online CLE Catalog to catch up if you've missed any programming from the first half of this year. We're looking forward to presenting a multi-hour session on professionalism (with an hour of ethics!), a seminar on plea agreements (including a judges panel), one on problem-solving courts and more! We are also looking forward to some fun social events! We've scheduled our annual Trip to the Track at Hoosier Park (get details and register here) and are in the planning stages of putting together a Tomlinson Tap Room social immediately following the professionalism program.
The Criminal Justice Section will also be offering scholarship opportunities for young attorneys that will cover IndyBar dues for 2 years. Stay tuned for more details to pass along to your non-member colleagues!
As always, we welcome and encourage member participation. We are always looking for volunteers to provide articles/essays/opinions that are relevant to our field. It’s your chance to be more involved and to be published on the IndyBar website! Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in providing content for our readers!
I hope summer is treating everyone well and we look forward to seeing you all at our events in the fall!
