The Indianapolis Bar Association’s Nominating Committee has announced the selection of the Hon. Alicia Gooden as the 2022 President of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Judge Gooden will serve as the association’s First Vice President on the 2020 Board of Directors and as President-Elect in 2021.

IDEM is proposing a new Non-rule Policy Document (NPD) regarding the rights of its inspectors and other staff members to access regulated facilities. MP-009-NPD will be presented to the Environmental Rules Board at its meeting on November 13, 2019.  A few highlights of the policy are discussed in this article.

The Indianapolis Bar Association is saddened to note the passing of past president Major General George A. Buskirk today, October 8, 2019. Buskirk served as president of the association in 1997 and also served as the long-time national treasurer of The American Legion.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I signed up to be a volunteer judge for Teen Court. To be honest, I only had a vague idea of what it was even about. Turns out, Teen Court is about teens who have engaged in illegal activities or activities against school policies, have accepted responsibility for their behavior and have agreed to be heard by their peers, who decide what the consequences of the behavior should be.

On November 14, join us as we gather in the Indiana Supreme Court courtroom from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for the IndyBar HEAL (Helping Enrich Attorneys’ Lives) Committee’s fourth annual Celebration of Life & Career. Each year, this memorial service gives us an opportunity to honor the lives and careers of local attorneys, judges and paralegals who passed away in the previous year.
