This order extends the effective date of all orders granting emergency relief to trial courts under Administrative Rule 17 through May 17 and vacates all deadlines for trial courts to resume jury trials or submit status reports under previous AR17 orders.

The Honorable Jane E. Magnus-Stinson, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, yesterday issued a General Order that supersedes previous General Orders issued in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, and specifically within the Southern District of Indiana.

I, like I’m sure many of you also have read and been advised, consider the advice of wiser women than me: rise early each morning, get a shower, brush your teeth, do your hair, wear make-up, dress your best, just like you were going into work (etc., etc., etc!) Ladies (and gentlemen,) as I sit here in the calm before the storm that I call home, in my pajamas and my hair piled on top of my head (without makeup, I might add), my advice is as follows: if you want to wear the yoga pants, wear the yoga pants. We’re in survival mode. And I think you should wear the pants.
