The CLE programming and events for this year’s Bench Bar Conference are designed to coincide with these developments, which we have coined “Bridging the Gap.” On behalf of myself and the other chairs for this year’s Bench Bar Conference, registration is now open, and we are looking forward to a phenomenal few days in beautiful French Lick from June 18-20.

I think we can all agree this job can be tough sometimes. We deal with people during some of their toughest times. We deal with people who are sad, confused, angry and/or scared. Many are experiencing a whole new world for the first time, sometimes completely unwillingly. And since we do this all day every day, sometimes we can become a little blind to the validity of their feelings.

Most people these days aren’t finding their family law attorney from a television commercial, a billboard, or the yellow pages. They are either referred by a friend or found by everyone’s best friend, Google. In fact, Google helps most people find most things! And since there are so many options at people’s fingertips, it’s important to have something that sets you apart.  Having positive reviews (on Google, Facebook, Avvo, etc) is one of those ways.

As family law practitioners, we are well aware of the challenges that surround scheduling vacations and travel during school breaks. It isn’t uncommon to have disagreements about where and when children should travel, not to mention with whom. However, the rapid and unpredictable spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), just in time for spring break, has lent new urgency to this issue.
