WLD 2023 Theme: Be Your Best Advocate

Dear WLD members:

Earlier this month, the WLD announced its 2023 theme, “Be Your Best Advocate,” with a programming promise to promote self-advocacy as well as advocacy for others. You can support our mission of advocacy by sharing, with your personal and professional networks, information about this program. 

Consider this statistic:  One out of every six women in America has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. Survivors often suffer PTSD, consider or attempt suicide, experience relationship issues, and are more likely to use illegal drugs.

On May 9th, Firefly Children and Family Alliance launches its 10-week virtual support group for adult survivors of sexual assault.  Participants will explore the healing process, develop coping tools, share in each other’s journey, and find peer support in a safe and compassionate forum.
