Colorado Requests Extension Of ALE Coverage For Marshall Fire Losses

The Marshall Fire was the most destructive fire in Colorado’s history, destroying over 1,000 structures in two days. The Colorado Division of Insurance has now asked insurers that have policyholders impacted by the fire to voluntarily extend additional living expenses (ALE) coverage beyond the typical 12-month period of restoration. This request underscores the scope of the losses and the difficulty of rebuilding after a massive casualty loss. Insurers are to respond by December 30, 2022.
