You are the President of the Women’s Caucus for IU McKinney School of Law for the 2025-2026 school year. Why did you join the Women’s Caucus? Do you have any exciting plans for Women’s Caucus for the upcoming year?
I joined the Women’s Caucus as a 1L because I wanted to join an organization where I could meet other women in law school, build relationships with alumni, and receive mentorship. Over the past two years at IU McKinney, the Women’s Caucus has been a cornerstone of my law school experience!
I am especially excited for the annual Women’s Caucus Auction in the spring. Last year, we raised a record amount for Dove Recovery House for Women, and I look forward to continuing to give back to the Indianapolis community next spring. Additionally, I look forward to collaborating with IndyBar’s Women in the Law Division. Last year’s joint trivia night was a huge success, and I look forward to brainstorming new and engaging events that bridge the gap between law students and practicing attorneys during this academic year.
You’re currently a 3L at IU McKinney School of Law. What made you want to become an attorney? Is there a particular area of law you hope to practice in?
When considering my career options, I knew I wanted to pursue a path centered on helping people. During an internship at a boutique trusts and estates firm, I observed client interactions and quickly realized that law was the right fit for me. I enjoyed getting to know the clients, understand their needs, and using my skills to help them achieve their goals.
This past summer, I was a summer associate at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP in the Dallas office, and I am thrilled to be joining the firm full-time after graduation. I will be practicing in the Financial Institutions Corporate & Regulatory group on the corporate team, focusing on community banking M&A.
Who have been some of your female mentors or inspirations throughout the course of your education and career?
While giving gratitude to all the women before me, four specific women stand out for being kind enough to provide me with advice and guidance on my legal path at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
- My Women's Caucus mentor and previous Women's Caucus president, Clare Van Prooyen. She just sat for the Bar and will be joining Ice Miller LLP this fall as an associate.
- Ashley Rosenblatt was a guiding hand for me during my 1L year. She is currently a law clerk at Krieg DeVault LLP.
- Lauren Box took time out of her busy schedule to sit down with me multiple times to discuss her experience from being a summer associate to making partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP.
- Briana Clark, a partner at Dentons Bingham Greenebaum, was generous enough to sponsor my involvement in attorney networking events and her women’s cycling group, the Divas!
You are currently a student member of IndyBar's Women in the law Division (WLD) What do you find most beneficial from your membership in WLD?
Being able to form connections and friendships with women in different areas of the law has been my favorite part of being a student member of IndyBar's WLD. Being from out-of-state, I did not know a lot of people in Indianapolis. Over the past several years, IndyBar has made the city feel smaller in the best way.
What do you like to do in your free time?
During my free time I enjoy reading historical fiction, playing cards with family, trying new restaurants (if you see me during Devour Indy please give me a wave), and hiking This summer I had the opportunity to hike the Camino de Santiago from Portugal to Spain. It was a wonderful chance to spend time in nature before school starts!
What can WLD members and others in the local legal community do to support Women's Caucus?
Women's Caucus members are very excited about getting involved in the Indianapolis legal community. To help support the Women's Caucus, I encourage attorneys to attend the collaborative events between WLD and the Women's Caucus as well as the annual auction!
