Louisiana Supreme Court Declines Fifth Circuit Certified Question - Insurance Coverage

The Louisiana Supreme Court denied a Fifth Circuit certified question regarding whether the Louisiana Oilfield Anti-Indemnity Act applies to contractors working on salt mines. The Act protects oilfield contractors from demands by big oil companies that the contractors indemnify the large companies from mistakes causing damage. Without such guidance, the Fifth Circuit will need to attempt to determine how the state’s highest court would rule if the question were before it.
