National Insurers Pause New Business in California

In a growing trend, some national insurers are refusing to write new policies in California, citing ballooning construction costs and the threat of wildfires. This pressure on the California insurance market may cause exposure problems with the California Fair Access to Insurance Requirement Plan, the state-run insurer of last resort, which has a record number of enrollees.
