Indiana Tax Court Judge Martha Blood Wentworth has been recognized by her peers from across the United States as the Lawrence L. Lasser Tax Judge of the Year, an award presented annually by the National Conference of State Tax Judges.

On November 6, 2017, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released two new International Practice Units (IPUs) relating to Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) for inbound and outbound tangible goods transactions.

G. Pearson Smith, Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, a former chair of the IndyBar Tax Section, was named the 2017 recipient of the IndyBar Estate Planning & Administration Section Patricia Paxton Wagner Award for Excellence in Estate Planning and Administration. 

Cybersecurity experts often refer to the 90/10 rule. This rule states that 10% of cybersecurity is reliant upon technology; 90 percent is up to users.

Changes in Indiana law through Senate Enrolled Act 505, provided new recording fees effective July 1, 2017 for all 92 counties. However, the Indianapolis City-County Council was required to adopt an ordinance to maintain predictable recording fees. The Council unanimously passed the ordinance on July 10, 2017 effective August 1, 2017.

Washington state's tax system has been called the most regressive in the country, as the state collects no income tax nor do any of its cities. But Seattle is looking to change that: On Monday, its city council passed an income tax on its highest earners.
