A variety of scholarships are available to attend the 2022 IndyBar Bench Bar Conference June 16-18, 2022 at the Omni Louisville Hotel in Louisville, KY. IndyBar's Bench Bar Conference is a two-day getaway featuring what and who you need to know to succeed in the practice of law in 2022. Bench Bar has been designed to facilitate impactful connections and cutting-edge education in a safe and comfortable environment. Scholarships funded by the Indianapolis Bar Foundation will be awarded in addition to those awarded through IndyBar sections and divisions.

Lawyers who relied totally on networking and the personal referrals generating therefrom have taken a hit of late, as many of those in-person marketing opportunities have dried up, or been significantly reduced. It’s not the end of networking as we know it, even if it feels that way.

The American Bar Association recently awarded the Louis M. Brown Select Award to the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Virtual Ask a Lawyer program last week. Winning the award was quite a feat as the other finalists were programs run by state bar associations. This national recognition reveals the special and unique nature of our legal community, which is so willing to help those in need.

In the best-case scenario, adversity is followed by innovation. A challenge presents itself and you do your best to address it. So when the global pandemic got serious in early 2020, I needed a way to keep everyone at the firm on the same page without necessarily being in the same physical office. As a result, I developed an internal website.

I had the “opportunity” over the holidays, to spend around 10 days in a solitary fashion in an undisclosed isolated location (if you know what I mean.) In an attempt to maintain my slim grip on sanity, I decided it would be a good time to start reading Splitting: Protecting Yourself While Divorcing Someone with Borderline or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I know what you’re thinking: “sounds awesome,” right? Not what you were thinking? Weird. (I may have felt the same, initially.)
