Reed Abelson of the New York Times reports that on July 8, Judge Theresa B. Doyle of Superior Court in King County, in Washington State, ruled that Dan Price's brother, Lucas, had failed to prove his claims that Dan had overpaid himself and inappropriately used a corporate credit card for personal expenses. The judge also ordered Lucas to pay Dan’s legal fees.

Four Court of Appeals judges are up for retention on Election Day in November. Voters will decide “yes” or “no” on whether to retain each appellate judge. A website has been designed by the Supreme Court’s Office of Judicial Administration as a way for voters to make informed decisions about the judges on the ballot.

The New York Times reports that both songs are considered private property, however, since each of them enjoy copyright protection. But that status could soon change, through a pair of lawsuits that seek to have the songs added to the public domain, where they would join “Happy Birthday to You,” a formerly copyrighted classic recently ruled to be among the creative works available for any and all to use as they choose.
