On Thursday, October 21, the IndyBar Law Student Division provided an opportunity for law students to learn from and connect with local practitioners in the field of wills, trusts and estate planning. These impressive practitioners shared their wealth of professional knowledge and experience, giving law students great insight into the practice of law in this field.

On November 2, 2021, the IndyBar Law Student Division had the pleasure of hosting a moderated discussion with 2021 IndyBar President Jimmie McMillian. McMillian, a 2002 IU McKinney graduate, currently serves as Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Corporate Counsel of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Sports Production. 

On, Sept. 30, the IndyBar and IU McKinney OPD co-hosted Career Insights for Aspiring Female IP Attorneys.  This event provided an opportunity for law students to interact with a panel of accomplished female IP attorneys who practice in the Indianapolis area.

Congratulations to Farrah Alexander, a 1L at the IU McKinney School of Law, for winning the IndyBar IndyBar Health Care & Life Sciences Section Writing/Oral Competition ! Farrah's winning essay earned her a chance to have lunch with IndyBar President Jimmie McMillian and members of the IndyBar Health Care & Life Sciences Section Executive Committee and a discount on future IndyBar Review course fees.

The fall 2021 nomination period for the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Law Student Division Executive Board has begun. There are At-Large positions available among the three Indiana law schools (Maurer, McKinney and Notre Dame). This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be involved with the planning and implementation of the IndyBar student activities while also enhancing your leadership skills.

The IndyBar Breakfast with the Bar: Family Law event on Sept. 24 was a great success! It was very exciting being able to host our first in-person Breakfast with the Bar in quite some time, and the turnout was everything we hoped for and more. We were able to have some great discussions with some fantastic local attorneys.

An IndyBarHQ utilization task force has been organized, featuring a diverse group of members, to direct our new HQ’s evolution with intention and creativity. The ideas already are simmering vigorously, but we need your help to bring them to a full boil.
