The proposed amendments affect LR49-TR79-223 Initial Request for Change of Judge, LR-TR-79-224 Appointment by Clerk, LR49-TR79-225 Acceptance, and LR49-TR3-200 Random Filing of Civil Cases. 

The world has changed and the world of public education has been forced to change along with it. From using hybrid models of both in-school and virtual instruction, alternative day schedules, to school districts that have foregone offering any in-person instruction at all, the changes to public education are varied. While these changes affect most of us with children of school age, they deeply and significantly affect parents of children who have special needs in terms of education or health.

The nomination period has begun for the 2021 Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and Kelley Johnson of the Law Office of Kelley J. Johnson LLP  has been appointed to chair the effort. Johnson, who is a past president of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, will lead a committee of members in selecting a slate of officers for the coming year.

Last week, the Indianapolis Bar Association notified its members that civil jury trials in the Marion Superior Court will begin the week of September 14, 2020.  Due to questions arising from the first notification, the court offers this additional clarification.

Marion Superior Court will commence major felony jury trials the week of August 24. Lower felony, misdemeanor and civil trials will begin the week of September 14.

Many schools throughout the Indianapolis area have chosen to push back their start dates or have an all virtual start, and it's possible that local or state officials will eventually mandate that all schools follow suit. This fall will bring even more uncertainty into our lives as we send our children back to school. So, what is a working parent to do?

House Bill 1006 provides that those who are 16 or 17-years-old may only marry if their intended spouse isn’t more than four years older than them, they get an order from a juvenile court allowing them to marry, complete all premarital counseling required by the order, apply for a marriage license “not sooner than” 15 days after the order, and include a certified copy of the order with their application for a marriage license

Greece’s justice minister, Constantine Tsiaras, recently announced the preparation of a civil rights bill for the reform of Greek family law, whose last substantive revision dates back to the early 1980s. Over the years, problems cropped up with the implementation of the law, as judges, influenced by the dominant sexist culture – according to which fathers were seen as unfit to look after their children – were overwhelmingly assigning custody to mothers only.

A mother who fought to modify custody of her two children before the court entered her dissolution decree has had her request rejected by the Indiana Court of Appeals.
