Current National Bar Association President Lonita K. Baker has the distinction of achieving these unique career achievements. The Marion County Bar Association, a chapter of the NBA, and the law firm of Schultz & Pogue LLP have made it possible for conference attendees to gain insight from her when she takes the stage to discuss, “Serving and Litigating in the National Spotlight” on June 16 at IndyBar’s Bench Bar Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

Krieg DeVault LLP has announced that Christopher J. Kulik has joined the firm's Health Care Practice.  Chris previously was with the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County.  Chris is active in IndyBar as a member of Bar Leader Class XIX and as a member of the Health Care and Life Sciences Section's Executive Committee.

Kyli Willis is now Of Counsel at Buchanan & Bruggenschmidt, where she focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters, including divorce, child custody and parenting time, child support, adoptions, guardianships, and DCS matters. Kyli was previously with Wanzer Edwards, PC.

Justin Wiser has joined the team at Travelers Insurance. Justin is a former chair of IndyBar's E-Discovery, Information Governance and Cybersecurity Section.

Taft partner Lacy Johnson has been appointed by President Joe Biden to serve on the President’s Export Council. The President’s Export Council serves as the principal national advisory committee on international trade, whose central focus is to advise the President on export trade matters. Johnson serves as the Partner-in-Charge of Taft’s Washington, D.C. office and is a member of firm’s Executive Committee. His legal practice focuses on public affairs and government with more than 30 years’ experience.

Lewis Wagner LLP announced the merger of Hewitt Law & Mediation into the firm and its growing probate and commercial litigation practices effective March 1, 2023. Past IndyBar Estate Planning and Administration Section Chair Brian Hewitt, along Indianapolis Bar Foundation board member Michele Lorbieski, Christopher Mueller and Collin Mockbee, have joined Lewis Wagner, bringing a combined 68 years of experience in estate planning, probate litigation, and commercial law.

Church Church Hittle + Antrim has announced the addition of former Indiana Supreme Court Justice Steven David who will be Of Counsel to the firm. Justice David will participate in the firm's Mediation, Appellate, Litigation, Family Law and Business Law practice groups.  Justice David served nearly 30 years in the judicial branch with more than ten of those as a member of the Indiana Supreme Court.


Brent Pierce has joined Harwell Legal Counsel LLC. The firm provides extensive legal counsel including criminal and family law.


Chelsea Granville Reed, a member of the Louisville office of Dentons Greenebaum Doll has been elevated to partner.  Chelsea is a member of IndyBar's Bar Leader Class XVII. At the firm she is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution groups, and she focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts.

Andrew Campbell has been appointed deputy practice chair of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP's product liability and mass torts practice.  Much of Andy's practice focuses on guiding pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers through litigation and pre-litigation risk management. Andy is a Past President of the Indianapolis Bar Association having served in 2020, and is a member of Class VI of the Bar Leader Series.


Harmony Mappes, a partner with Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is now co-leader of the firm's trade secrets and non-competes team. Harmony litigates complex commercial disputes with her work focuses on trade secrets and non-compete litigation and counseling. She is a graduate of IndyBar's Bar Leader Series as a member of Class XII.

The Marion Superior Courts announced several changes today. Noting they are required by administrative rule to review caseloads on a regular basis and make changes to handle case work in all courts, the judges approved decisions impacting courts in all three current court divisions: civil, criminal, and family. 

 Court D07– Civil Division (current)  

  • All new case civil case type filings into D07 have been stopped.  
  • Court D07 will transition to be a new court in the Criminal Division Major Felony section joining courts D20, D21, D27, D28, D29, D30, D31 and D32. 
  • Work has begun on distributing the pending civil cases in D07 to the Civil Division courts (C01, D01, D02, D03, D04, D05, D06, D11, D12, D13). This will be completed by April 8, 2023. 
  • On/by April 8, 2023, Court D07 will begin receiving major felony court related new case filings.  

Court D24– Criminal Division Level 6 Felony Section (current) 

  • All new criminal case type filings into Court D24 have been stopped. 
  • Court D24 from April 1, 2023 will no longer function as a criminal division court. 
  • All Pending cases in D24 will be transferred into court D17 (Hon. Klineman) and will be handled by D17 judge and staff. This includes existing Probation and Community Corrections cases. Expungement cases from D24 will be handled by D17 as well. 
  • D24 will begin operations as a new Family Division court later this year, with the timing to be announced at a later date. D24 would then join the existing Family Division courts D09, D10, D14, D15, and D16. 

Court D22 – Criminal Division Level 6 Felony section Traffic Court (current) 

  • All new case filings into Court D22 will be stopped from May 31, 2023. 
  • Pending cases and future procedures for traffic related cases will be communicated to all judiciary related agencies by May 1, 2023. 
  • D22 will begin operations as a new Family Division court later this year, with the timing to be announced at a later date. D22 would at that time join the existing Family Division courts D09, D10, D14, D15, D16, and D24. 

OV Case Dockets Processing 

The court intends to move the OV case docket (not traffic related) from Civil Court D04 (Hon. Ayers) to Civil Court D07 (Hon. Dietrick). With the above court room changes being undertaken, the court’s notice indicated this change will likely be completed by mid-May 2023.
