This spring, the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, funded by donations from the local legal community, gifted $35,000 to Indiana Legal Services, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible, low-income residents throughout the state of Indiana. The foundation is the charitable arm of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Join us at the 2024 Empowerment Celebration as we ceremoniously honor Indiana Legal Services with this grant.

The Hon. Loretta H. Rush was recently reappointed to a five-year term as Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court.

Mark Cannon recently joined Fifth Third Private Bank. He will serve as Vice President and Senior Trust Advisor in the Evansville office.

Alexander Gaddis recently joined Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. Alexander previously worked at Applegate Fifer Pulliam, which was acquired by Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. Alex represents clients in land use, zoning, eminent domain, and transactional real estate matters. 

Madison Harada has recently joined Krieg DeVault LLP. She will continue her practice in private and public health law.

Michael Mohler recently joined Littler Mendelson PC. He focuses on investigating charge allegations, reviews pertinent documents, interviews key witnesses, and provides clients an assessment of the risks associated with the charge.

Leeann Simpkins recently joined Toyota Automated Logistics North America. Previously, she worked in private practice as a legal advisor and litigator focusing on a variety of business and workplace law matters.

The Marion County Judicial Selection Committee is beginning the process of selecting two new superior court judges. Judge John Hanley (Court 11, Civil Division) and Judge Mark Stoner (Court 32, Major Felony Division) will retire effective December 31, 2024, creating two vacancies on the Marion Superior Court.

Justice Derek Molter, Committee Chairperson, and Court of Appeals Chief Judge Robert Altice, Jr., Vice Chairperson, announced applications for the vacancy are available online and must be submitted through the Indiana Courts Portal by Monday, September 9 at 12:00 p.m. (Eastern). Only one application is required to be considered for both vacancies.

Chief Justice Loretta Rush announced on August 1 that the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission will begin accepting applications for a vacancy on the Court of Appeals. The position on the state's second highest court will become available when Judge Terry Crone, representing the third appellate district, retires this fall.

Chief Justice Rush, who chairs the Commission, and Court of Appeals Chief Judge Robert Altice, Jr. encourage eligible Indiana judges and lawyers to consider applying. Applications are due by September 12 at noon (Eastern).
