Over the past few days, President Trump has used social media to comment on U.S. District Court Judge Robart's temporary block on the President's Executive Order on immigration.

The Indianapolis Bar Association (IndyBar) today voiced support of Mayor Joseph Hogsett’s proposal to construct a new justice center complex in Marion County.  The IndyBar applauded the efforts of the city to prioritize the creation of safe, adequate and dignified justice facilities to house criminal and civil courts, integral justice agencies, and a more secure and efficient jail, while also enhancing services to those within the justice system struggling with mental health and substance abuse.

Myra Eldridge, Marion County Clerk, released a memo on January 19 noting that it will begin emailing court documents upon request in order to help resolve issues concerning document access.

On January 17, 2017, the General Term of the Marion Superior Court elected its new Executive Committee for the 2017-2018 Term.  Judge Timothy Oakes was elected to serve as the Presiding Judge.  Judge Sheila Carlisle, Judge Christina Klineman and Judge Heather Welch will join him on the Executive Committee as Associate Presiding Judges.

Once again, Indianapolis Bar Association members are encouraged to join us to talk with city representatives and the IndyBar Justice Center Task Force at the IndyBar offices on Tuesday, January 24th from noon to 1 p.m. regarding the latest developments and timeline on a new proposed Justice Center campus, as well as ideas for improvements to the processes used within the justice system in Marion County.
