Each fall and spring, libraries and community centers host this wonderful event by opening their doors and spreading the word to their constituents. Nearly 500 residents meet with over 100 local volunteer attorneys and paralegals stationed throughout the community to discuss the legal issues that are impacting their life or the lives of a loved one. This year’s Ask a Lawyer program will be held on April 9 at 11 locations throughout Indianapolis.

The IBF Impact Fund serves as an important vehicle to facilitate the financial generosity of members of the Indianapolis Bar Association and the local legal community. Through the Impact Fund, the IBF invests substantial funds and association member participation in support of a project presented by a non-profit organization that seeks to affect a significant positive impact in central Indiana.

The Bench Bar Conference offers an opportunity to escape the push-pull demands of our everyday law practice, to take a trip to a historic resort and prevent FOMO because you will be there, visiting with fellow attorneys and judges and renewing that human connection that is becoming too rare. I have often though, as I drove home from Bench Bar how glad I am to have had a special conversation with a judge, an old colleague, a new lawyer, a mediator or an attorney I had long admired but never met.

As March 1, 2019, marks the beginning of the registration period for the 2019 Indianapolis Bar Association’s Diversity Job Fair from August 5-6, I want to reflect on my wonderful experience at last year’s fair and express my gratitude to all the organizers and participants who made the experience memorable.
