I began taking helicopter flight lessons in 1998 (one of the best Father’s Day presents ever from my wife), and I’ve learned a few things in this process that apply to the practice of law.

Long-term stewardship includes all activities necessary to reliably prevent residual contamination or other environmental conditions from posing a risk to human health following completion or stabilization at a site. LTS activities include inspection, operation and maintenance, information management and distribution, financial assurance, and public notification.

On October 23, 2019, the IndyBar E-Discovery Information Governance & Cybersecurity Section sponsored a CLE titled Connecting Information Governance and E-Discovery: Building the Foundation for Mobile and E-mail Discovery. Yaniv Schiff, Director of Digital Forensics with QDiscovery, An XDD Company, and Jon Mattingly, Founder and Director with Proteus Discovery (and section executive committee member) presented forensic and practitioner perspectives on valuable e-discovery and information governance topics. 

IndyBar members and the legal community overwhelmingly showed their support of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation during its second annual Day of Giving on Oct. 23, 2019, with donors contributing $30,619 as of press time.

The IndyBar will be awarding the Professionalism Award to Julia A. Carpenter, a partner at Krieg DeVault LLP and chair of the firm’s Commercial and Real Estate Lending Practice Group.

In the one-year period ending Sept. 30, 2019, there were 4,496 motions for time filed in civil cases. In at least half of these motions, the request fails to comply with three important and relevant Federal Rules of Civil Procedure; Rules 1, 6 and 16.
