Judge Tom Alsip died peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was 86. Tom was born November 20, 1937 on the south side of Indianapolis, near Garfield Park. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1970, and by then had been working out of the law offices of attorney Duge Butler, a prominent criminal defense attorney. Tom worked in various capacities in the criminal law system, including as a deputy prosecutor, as a public defender, as a special judge, as well as in private practice. In 1982, Tom became Judge of the Marion County Superior Court, Criminal Division 6, to which he had been appointed by then Gov. Robert Orr. Read the full obituary here.

Kimberly DalSanto was elected to the position of Partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Kimberly concentrates her practice in the fields of commercial, civil, and environmental litigation.

Joseph Delamater has started a new position as Senior Associate Director for Equal Access and Equal Opportunity at Purdue University. In this role, he ensures that the University is in compliance with all aspects of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Christine Douglas has started a new position as Owner/Attorney at Douglas Family Law LLC. Her practice focusses on all aspects of family law (i.e. divorces, custody modifications, adoptions, grandparent visitation, guardianships, paternity, seeking contribution from a parent for college expenses).

Jonathan Emenhiser has been elected by his partners to serve as Managing Partner of the firm, effective January 1, 2024. Emenhiser succeeds Jeff Claflin, who concluded his service in this role at the end of 2023. Emenhiser represents businesses and individuals in a variety of complex litigation matters including commercial, insurance coverage and environmental litigation.

Amber Finley has joined the City of Lawrence, IN as Corporation Counsel. In this role she will provide legal guidance on various matters, including ordinances, contracts, and litigation involving the city.

Matt Giffin has rejoined Faegre Drinker in the Indianapolis Business Litigation Group. Matt Giffin represents clients in litigation and complex business disputes at every level of state and federal courts.

Thomas Hutchinson has joined Barnes & Thornburg’s Indianapolis office where he counsels for-profit and nonprofit healthcare providers across the country. His practice focusses on executing complex transactions from start to finish.

Christina Kamelhair has been promoted to shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Indianapolis office. Christina focusses her practice on a wide range of workplace issues including marijuana and drug testing, leave and accommodation, and discrimination and wrongful termination issues, among others.

Julie Mahomed is now Assistant General Counsel at Heritage Construction + Materials.

Anna Mallon has joined Drewry Simmons Vornehm and has been selected to serve as the President of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana for 2024. She concentrates her practice in the areas of insurance bad faith, insurance coverage and third party defense of insureds. Anna regularly practices in state and federal courts handling trials, summary judgment hearings, mediations and arbitrations.

Michael A. Moffatt, Jr. has joined Krieg DeVault as an Associate with the firm's Litigation Practice. Mr. Moffatt primarily devotes his practice to commercial litigation matters focusing on legal research and writing.

Kevin Roberts has been promoted to shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Indianapolis office. His area of expertise is high-stakes labor and employment and breach of contract matters. He handles litigation, appeals, and proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, and other federal, state, and local agencies.

Bob Schuckit has recently retired and closed Schuckit and Associates P.C. after 18 years of operation. Congratulations on your retirement!

Jim Strenski has been selected as the Treasurer of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana for 2024. He represents insurance companies in insurance coverage, insurance bad faith litigation, and third-party defense of insureds. He advises insurance companies pre-suit on issues of coverage and conducts examinations under oath.

Tom Wheeler has joined Bose McKinney & Evans as a partner in our Education and Litigation Groups. He will also lead a new election and political law practice and serve as a principal at Bose Public Affairs Group.
