4:00 PM - 5:00 PM ET
This holiday-themed CLE provides a creative, accessible way to explore substantive legal issues. Die Hard offers abundant opportunities to analyze modern criminal law concepts in an engaging and interesting way, sparking discussion of both legal doctrine and cultural context. In this seminar our presenter will use scenes and clips from the cult classic to:
- distinguish between traditional robbery, burglary, and terrorism-related offenses as applied to fictional but realistic scenarios
- evaluate the legal boundaries of self-defense and defense of others when a civilian intervenes in a violent crime
- analyze law enforcement response protocols, jurisdictional conflicts, and liability issues
- explore evidentiary considerations in high-stakes prosecutions such as witness testimony, forensic evidence, and digital communications
- discuss trends in federal and state legislation related to terrorism and organized crime
This seminar is sure to provide a perfect mix of entertainment and education. Debate on whether Die Hard is or is not a Christmas movie is encouraged.
