3:30 PM - 5:00 PM ET
Earlier this year, Governor Eric Holcomb signed into law amendments to the Indiana Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) addressing a limited set of transactions involving certain types of digital assets. The amendments revise Article 9 (Secured Transactions) and add an entirely new Article 11 (Controllable Electronic Records). The amendments take effect July 1, 2022, and additional amendments are expected in 2023.
The new Indiana provisions respond to market concerns about the lack of commercial law rules for digital assets, especially relating to negotiability for cryptocurrency and certain electronic payment rights and the difficulties of secured lending against digital assets. This presentation will be of interest to lawyers whose practices encompass transactions or litigation involving issues arising under all articles of the UCC, not just Article 9 or the new Article 11.
Stick around after the program for a reception!

COVID-19. While choosing to participate in events held or sponsored by the Indianapolis Bar Association and/or Foundation (IndyBar), consistent with CDC guidelines, participants are encouraged to practice hand hygiene and social distancing to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, the IndyBar has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including requiring masks in large, indoor group settings except when eating or drinking. Even so, the IndyBar cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, sponsors or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19. Also, in keeping with CDC recommendations, those eligible are encouraged to receive the vaccine to support the health and well-being of the general public.
Participants, volunteers and sponsors agree to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath) and contact the IndyBar at iba@indybar.org if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days after participating or volunteering with the IndyBar.
