On Jan. 3, 2022, the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana released a report on Mortgage Lending in Marion County showing that overall homeownership in the county has decreased by 8.5 percent, however, Black homeownership fell by nearly 20 percent over the past decade. Among the report’s key findings are the loss of 9,500 owner-occupied homes with a disproportional amount of those losses in Black communities.
