If you are participating in the ice-bucket challenge, don't waste one of your nominations on a US Diplomat, because they've been banned from taking you up on it. Lawyers at the State Department have banned American ambassadors and other high-profile foreign service officers from participating in the challenge.

The lawyers said that participation would conflict with federal ethics rules that bar officials from using public office for private gain "no matter how worthy the cause." The ice-bucket challenge has raised over $40 million for ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease.
