Phillies Sue To Stop Mascot From Becoming 'Free Agent'

The designers of the Phillies’ Phanatic are threating to invoke the Copyright Act’s termination right if the team does not negotiate a new deal for the rights to the mascot. The Phillies filed suit against the designers for a declaratory judgment and preliminary injunction claiming that they were instrumental in the development of the character and had already once renegotiated the terms.
