HHS Office for Civil Rights Issues Bulletin on HIPAA Requirements for Online Tracking Technologies

Earlier this month, the Office for Civil Rights issued a bulletin outlining guidance for online tracking technologies. The bulletin sets a regulatory framework for the use of tracking technologies by regulated entities and states that regulated entities are not permitted to use tracking technologies in a manner that would result in impermissible disclosures of PHI to tracking technology vendors or any other violations of the HIPAA Rules.
