The IndyBar Real Estate and Land Use Section is happy to honor both the Honorable Mike Keele and Tom Dinwiddie as the 2022 recipients of the Zeff Weiss Award for Excellence in Real Estate.

Judge Keele has impacted the real estate and development community through three very different roles in our community. As a young attorney for the City of Indianapolis, Judge Keele worked hand in hand with the Department of Metropolitan Development staff and customers to further the development of Indianapolis. As a private practitioner, he worked on behalf of clients of all sizes to provide counsel and representation in real estate transactions and the public entitlement process. As a Superior Court Judge, he handled code enforcement cases for several years, and by local rule reviewed all land use-related litigation in Marion County, applying his real-world experience to deliver judicial decisions which were viewed by lawyers in his court as fair and reasonable, even if the outcome wasn’t in your client’s favor.

For nearly five decades, Dinwiddie has had a thriving real estate development and lending practice. He has counseled some of central Indiana’s most significant real estate development and lending companies from start-ups to prominent developers and lenders in the Midwest. Perhaps more notable, Dinwiddie’s mentorship of young lawyers and his professionalism over the years has significantly impacted the Indianapolis real estate community. Dinwiddie is the quintessential “first one in the office and last one to leave.” He does not know how to give a client need less than his full commitment. When asked to describe Dinwiddie’s work over the years, one real estate developer’s in-house counsel stated, “I’ve worked with lawyers from New York to Los Angeles on a variety of real estate transactions; Tom Dinwiddie is, without question, the best attorney of them all.”

Join us to honor both the Honorable Mike Keele and Tom Dinwiddie at the section's holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 1 at IndyBarHQ. Details and registration can be found online here.
