Where do you work?
Scannell Properties, which is a privately owned real estate development and investment company that focuses on build-to-suit and speculative development projects throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. I serve as one of our in-house counsel, and my responsibilities cover the entire breadth of our development and capital process.

How long have you practiced law?
It will be 11 years in October.

Describe yourself in three words.
Husband. Father. Dedicated.

What was your favorite non-legal job?
I worked on a dock maintenance crew at a Lake Monroe marina one summer in college.  Spending everyday on the water, can’t beat that.

Do you prefer to work from home or go to the office?
I like having the flexibility to do both.  It really depends on what I’m working on that particular day.  The peace and quiet at home is great for more time-intensive projects, whereas being in the office is easier for days when I need to collaborate with multiple team members.  We have a great team at Scannell, and I enjoy the camaraderie too much to work from home everyday.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probably Lake Como in Italy, with a stop in Monza for a Formula One race.

What’s your favorite way to unwind?
Spending time with my family and playing golf.

Who inspires you?
My mother. I could probably write a novel about why, but I’ll just say that she is a constant source of inspiration for me.

What has been the highlight of 2022 for you?
My wife and I took our kids to Disney World this spring and it was the kids’ first time.  It certainly was not a vacation for mom and dad, but the kids had an absolute blast.

What’s the last book you read?
Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters by Meg Meeker.  For any girl dads out there, this is a must read.

Salty or sweet?
I like both, but would probably lean toward the sweet side.

What’s your favorite thing about the IndyBar?
The CLEs offered by the Real Estate and Land Use section are great. The topics are always right on point for my area of practice, and IndyBar does a great job of sourcing knowledgeable speakers with real world experience in those areas.
