EPA Releases New PFAS Action Plan

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released its “PFAS Action Plan” to address Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). PFAS are a group of synthetic chemicals found in a wide array of products. Due to their widespread use since the 1940s, most people in the United States have been exposed to PFAS. There is evidence that PFAS may cause an array of adverse health effects. The new action plan includes steps to propose drinking water standards for PFAS, to list PFAS as CERCLA hazardous substances, to develop recommended cleanup guidelines for contaminated groundwater, and to conduct additional research.
