Today...

After President Obama asked for $3.7 billion yesterday to aid border control in Texas, Justice Department officials will adjust court flow today to meet the rise in migrants. Today, new procedures will be put in place so that migrants become a priority and can ultimtely have their cases resolved within months instead of the usual two or three years. Read more  here.

146 Years Ago...

On this day in 1868, the 14th Amendment was ratified. This amendment defines U.S. citizenship, including black Americans. This was important at the time because it resolved lingering legal issues over the status of former slaves. It was the second of three Reconstruction Amendments following the Civil War.
