Minimum Wage Raised in Massachusetts but Remains Same Elsewhere

In April of this year, the U.S. Senate voted 54-42 against raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10. On June 12, Massachusetts legislature made their own plans. The new legislature will increase minimum wage from its current $8 an hour to $11 by 2017. In addition, it raises the minimum wage for tipped employees from $2.63 to $3.75 an hour and the minimum wage for agricultural and farming workers from $1.60 to $8 an hour.

The issue of minimum wage still remains on a federal level, and as a state, Indiana remains split. In the federal vote in April, Senator Joe Donnelly voted in favor of raising the minimum wage, while Senator Dan Coats voted against the measure.
