New Renewable Energy: Floatovoltaics Coming to Carmel

Indiana is home to different forms of renewable energy. There are wind farms and solar arrays on land that can be seen from highways and state roads alike. There is a new source of renewable energy technology coming to Indiana: floating solar panels or "floatovoltaics." A company in Carmel, Solential Energy Solutions, looks to bring this European model to Indiana by partnering with France-based Ciel & Terre.

These systems have unique benefits that differentiate them from land solar arrays. These floating solar systems reduce evaporation from the water they sit on, reduce algae growth and create room for renewable opportunities and free cooling of solar systems. Unique renewable systems like these give people options to find the best system for their property and needs. This gives water treatment facilities the opportunity to cut costs, gives people with retention ponds the opportunity to generate passive energy and gives others the chance to turn their pond-covered land a chance to reap these benefits as well.
