For practical guidance on preparing well-crafted discovery requests in compliance with Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 34(b)(1), The Sedona Conference® recently published its Primer on Crafting eDiscovery Requests with "Reasonable Particularity," Public Comment Version. The Primer provides an overview of evolving case law, as well as practice pointers for drafting instructions, definitions, and “particular” requests to better target discovery. The Primer is available here for free download.
