Redistricting is Underway of Indiana’s Legislative and Congressional District Maps

Indiana is required by state and federal law to redraw Indiana’s legislative and congressional maps following the nationwide census every 10 years.

In mid-September, proposed Indiana House and Congressional district maps were introduced in the Indiana House of Representatives. The proposed Indiana House and Congressional District maps can be found at:

On September 21, the state Senate’s majority caucus unveiled draft state Senate maps as part of the General Assembly’s ongoing redistricting process. The proposed Indiana Senate District map can be found at:

The legislation containing the proposed maps, House Bill 1581, was passed by the Indiana House of Representatives by a vote of 67-31 on September 23. The legislation will now be sent to the Indiana Senate for consideration. The Senate Committee on Elections plans to host a public meeting of the committee to gather public feedback on House Bill 158. Then, the full Senate is expected to meet on September 30 and October 1 for second and third reading of the bill, respectively.
