Subscribed to Zoom During the Pandemic Lockdown? Get Your Refund!

As we, hopefully, live the last months of the pandemic, many of us look forward to the demise of the Zoom meeting, hearing, deposition, etc. Last year, “Zoom fatigue” became a malaise we had to take break from. We learned how to dress-up our top halves while wearing gym shorts and bunny slippers.

We also learned early on that Zoom slacked on its security protocols. “Zoombombing” was something we laughed at first, but later worried that we would be “bombed” during a serious hearing. Now, Zoom must pay for not securing their services. According to the New York Times, Zoom agreed to pay $85 million to settle a lawsuit that claimed the video-conferencing company violated the privacy of its users. The settlement means refunds will be coming to those who paid for Zoom subscriptions once it is approved by a federal court.

Finally, when you sip the latte you were able to afford with your refund, think about the fact that you were never “Zoombombed.” Thank your lucky stars or the first individuals that filed their lawsuits which prompted Zoom to actually update their security, for your good fortune.
