Message from the Chair: The Latest Section Updates

The Family Law Section is thrilled to continue our tradition of bringing seminars to you on a regular basis. We are also planning on our annual Indians Game outing for this summer, in addition to other social opportunities.

The committee is currently working on a resource guide of relevant professionals in the area who are helpful for the practice of family law.  The section is also looking forward to presenting an award for family law excellence to one of our members at the year-end Holiday Party. Look for applications for nominations for that award later this year.

This year, the committee is working with other committees to provide a wider option of seminars where the practice of family law overlaps other areas. The Family Law Section has partnered with the Paralegal Committee, Criminal Justice Section and the Estate Planning & Administration Section for seminars so far this year. If there are issues or subjects you believe the Family Law Section needs to get involved with, either by providing education opportunities or in order to help with policy in family law, please do not hesitate to contact the members of this year’s committee.

Here are a few save the date notices for you to keep in mind for this year:   

• May 5 – Electronic Pitfalls: Metadata 101 and Privacy and Privilege in the Workplace
• June 18-20 - 2015 Bench Bar Conference
• July 22 – A CLE on gay marriage issues
• July 23 – Family Law Section Indians Game Outing
• August 26 – A CLE on probate litigation
