Breakfast with the Bar: February Recap

On Tuesday, February 11th, IndyBar's Law Student Division hosted Breakfast with the Bar: Insurance & Medical Malpractice at IU McKinney’s Law Library. The event gave students a clearer picture of how Insurance and Medical Malpractice issues show up in real practice, and what the work can look like across different roles in the space.

Panelists shared practical takeaways on topics such as assessing claims and defenses, working through medical records and expert testimony, dealing with insurers and coverage questions, and the strategic choices made through the beginning and end of a case. They also offered straightforward advice for students interested in these areas—what skills to develop now, where to find meaningful experience, and how to position yourself for internships and clerkships. Attorneys gave students practical insights about career paths, day-to-day workflow, and what to expect in practice.
